Srinagar, Dec 5: With DDC polls on, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today alleged that they are being denied security which is creating hurdles for them in campaigning.
Addressing a press conference here, former minister and senior Congress leader Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed flanked by the party Vice President G N Monga said that the Congress leaders and the party’s DDC candidates have not been given any of security cover.
He said that it was difficult for them to move out around without security. “Anybody who raises a slogan of India in Kashmir as there is always a threat and that’s what we have been demanding,” he said.
He said that he is categorized in the Z plus category, but has got no security cover on the contrary.  “I have been attacked several times in past, the security cover was withdrawn; there are many who are demanding security,” he said.
He alleged that the concerned officials do not even bother to take their calls. “Whenever we demand security to visit any place, we are being told that there is no vehicle available; the concerned officials do not even bother to receive our phone calls,” he said, adding that if such was the situation what was the need of conducting elections.
He also said that the leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies are being provided adequate security, “while we are being pushed to the wall,” he said.
The JKPCC leader said that the BJP is well aware that it cannot emerge victorious in Kashmir, “That’s the reason that they have been supporting Apni Party and independent candidates at most of the places,” he said.
