JAMMU, June 9: Dr Sunil Gupta, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, chaired a comprehensive Crime Review Meeting (CRM) at DPL Jammu today.
A statement said that the meeting was attended by SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar, all Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySP DAR Jammu, DySP Headquarters Jammu, and all Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district.
The meeting began with SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar providing an overview of the current crime and law and order situation in the district.
In his address, DIG Gupta emphasized the need to expedite the resolution of under-investigation cases, including backlog cases and inquest proceedings. He urged firm action against drug peddlers and other anti-social elements.
Focusing on the drug menace, DIG Gupta called for a mission-oriented approach to dismantle illicit drug networks.
He stressed the importance of identifying and seizing the properties of drug peddlers and gangsters to undermine their operations.
SHOs were instructed to maintain lists of drug addicts and peddlers at the police station level.
Instructions were given to increase the installation of CCTV cameras, with proper record-keeping, to monitor miscreant activities.
Officers were encouraged to engage local communities in setting up CCTV cameras to enhance surveillance and create a safer environment.
Concluding the meeting, directives were issued for the effective implementation of strategies to reduce the pendency of under-investigation cases, ensure the timely disposal of complaints, control drug trafficking, vehicle theft, and burglaries, and maintain a peaceful atmosphere in the district.
