JAMMU, July 7: Dr Sunil Gupta, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, chaired a comprehensive crime and security review meeting for the month of June at the District Police Lines (DPL) Jammu here today.
The meeting was attended by SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar, along with all supervisory officers, Zonal SPs, SDPOs, DySP Headquarters, DySP (DAR) Jammu, the Incharge of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, and Station House Officers (SHOs) of the district.
SSP Jammu, Dr Vinod Kumar, provided an overview of the current crime and security landscape in the district.
DIG Gupta emphasized the need for strong actions against drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, thieves, vehicle lifters, and other antisocial elements.
He directed officers to maintain comprehensive lists of offenders for better surveillance and to bind down repeat offenders under preventive laws.
Addressing the issue of drugs, DIG Gupta urged officers to adopt a mission-oriented approach to eliminate the menace.
The DIG JSK Range also highlighted the importance of vigilance to thwart the designs of anti-national elements and maintain peace.
He instructed officers to maintain lists of suspicious persons, including Bangladeshis and Rohingyas, and take legal action against them.
Dr Gupta reaffirmed his commitment to justice and urged investigating officers to ensure cases are resolved on their merits.
The meeting also included a security review for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. DIG Gupta provided necessary directions to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra and instructed officers to brief personnel regularly about the sensitivity and nature of their duties.
He also directed all SHOs to keep a Quick Response Team (QRT) ready 24/7 at every police station to handle any untoward situations during the Yatra.
Meanwhile, DIG Gupta awarded Rs 5000 to Police Station Nagrota for solving a temple vandalism case within 24 hours and appreciated the prompt action of the officers and officials involved.
