JAMMU, May 5: Dr Sunil Gupta, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, conducted a surprise inspection at Police Station (PS) Bakshi Nagar, evaluating various aspects of station management and law enforcement readiness.
During his visit, Dr Gupta inspected multiple facilities within the station including the MHC Room, Malkhana, and Hawalat.
He reviewed several key registers such as the Mahila Desk, Cyber, NCR, Tyohar, NDPS, and Land Dispute registers, finding all records to be well-maintained. The premises and surrounding areas of the station were also noted to be clean and orderly.
Dr Gupta provided specific directives to the SDPO West/SHO of Police Station Bakshi Nagar to enhance vigilance in their jurisdiction.
He stressed the importance of timely redressal of public grievances, with a particular emphasis on addressing complaints from women through the female staff of the station.
The DIG highlighted the need for focused attention on cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, road accidents, and land disputes.
He instructed officers to identify and investigate the backward and forward linkages in ongoing NDPS cases and to compile lists of drug addicts, peddlers, smugglers, and kingpins.
Furthermore, Dr Gupta ordered the identification and seizure of properties belonging to individuals involved in drug trafficking, including the possible demolition of immovable properties.
He also noted the need for better organization of vehicles seized under operation Avtar, suggesting they be arranged in a more systematic manner.
Additional guidance was given to strengthen the beat system of Police Station Bakshi Nagar, enhancing local policing effectiveness. In recognition of exemplary service, Dr Gupta awarded HC Muzaffar Ahmed, Incharge MASI at Police Station Bakshi Nagar, a cash reward of Rs. 500 for maintaining impeccable records.
Accompanied by SSP Jammu Dr Vinod Kumar, Dr Gupta also conducted a security review of the strong room at MAM College, Jammu, as part of ongoing efforts to bolster security measures across the region.
