DIG JSK Range reviews security measures in Kathua’s terror-prone areas

JAMMU, Sept 10: In response to recent terror attacks in Badnota and Machedi areas, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma today conducted a comprehensive security review in Kathua district.
A high-level meeting in this regard held in Billawar was attended by top Army, CRPF, and J&K Police officers, as well as civil administration representatives.
During the meeting, DIG Sharma emphasized the need for a robust security strategy and proactive measures to combat threats from Over Ground Workers (OGWs), Anti-National Elements (ANEs), and Anti-Social Elements (ASEs).
He underscored the importance of vigilance and coordination among security agencies and local authorities.
Sharma launched an awareness campaign urging the public and vehicle operators to report any suspicious activities immediately to the nearest police post or station. He assured citizens of full cooperation from J&K Police.
The DIG JSK Range also addressed concerns at Police Post Ramkot and Dinga Amb Naka, instructing the officers to address public grievances promptly and maintain heightened vigilance.
He also directed SDPO and SHO Billawar to monitor SIM providers and mobile phone shop owners, warning them against providing technical support to unauthorized individuals and ensuring legal action against violators.
All security posts, especially during night time, were instructed to enhance surveillance.
Sharma emphasized the installation of CCTV cameras at key locations, including Ujh Bridge, Varun Devta Bridge, Ludhar Bridge, and Bhini Bridge, to monitor potential threats.
He also reviewed major infiltration routes and instructed territorial officers to bolster the security grid.
The security review meeting was attended by ADC Billawar Vinay Khosla, Tehsildar Surinder Singh, SDPO Shabinder Singh, BMO Dr. Harmohinder Singh, SHO Jatinder Singh, Naib Tehsildar Karan Kumar, TSO Ram Murti, Assistant Commandant CRPF 121-C Bopal Singh, Captain Dushyant 4/5 GR, and other officials from IB, CID CI, and CID SB.
DIG Sharma assured full support for the safe conduct of upcoming Assembly elections.
A mobile helpline, 9469497990, was also set up for residents of Billawar, Machedi, and Badnota to report any suspicious activities or terrorist hideouts.
