JAMMU, June 16: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Jammu, Dr Sunil Gupta, today convened a meeting to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024 and the current security scenario in Jammu district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Jammu, Zonal SPs, SDPOs, and SHOs of district Jammu.
During the meeting, Dr Sunil Gupta, DIG JSK Range emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
He highlighted meticulous planning and execution of security measures to address potential threats and challenges.
Special focus was given to the securing of pilgrimage route, places of stay, especially the Base Camp at Bhagwati Nagar, and Langer sites.
Officers were directed to implement Operation Third Eye in their jurisdictions, coordinating with other stakeholders to ensure foolproof security for the yatris.
Strengthening of nakas, particularly in border areas and within the city during night hours, was also mandated.
The meeting stressed maintaining proper liaison with intelligence agencies (Army, Para Military forces, and other central agencies) and sharing information in real-time.
Strategies to manage the anticipated high influx of pilgrims, including traffic regulation, parking facilities, emergency response measures, medical facilities and disaster management plans, were reviewed.
Dr Gupta underscored the importance of vigilance and preparedness throughout the Yatra.
He instructed officers to conduct regular reviews and mock drills to ensure effective implementation of all plans.
