DIG Traffic educates students on new criminal laws, road safety

JAMMU, Mar 24: Dr Mohammad Haseeb Mughal, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Traffic, Jammu, today delivered an insightful lecture at Central University Jammu on the implications of the new criminal laws and the advancements in traffic management.
As per a statement, the lecture, held at Rajinder Singh Auditorium, was attended by faculty members from various disciplines and students from fields such as Public Administration, Economics, Mass Communication and Ph.D scholars.
Dr Mughal, accompanied by other police officers presented a detailed analysis of the newly enacted laws that address critical societal issues.
In his address, Dr Mughal discussed the laws tackling cybercrime, domestic violence, and white-collar crimes, emphasizing their importance in responding to contemporary legal challenges.
“These laws are crucial for ensuring justice and societal harmony,” he noted, urging the students to stay informed as responsible citizens.
Beyond criminal law, the lecture also touched upon traffic safety.
Dr Mughal highlighted the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) and Intelligent Traffic Light System (ITLS) recently implemented in Jammu.
He said these innovations aimed at enhancing road safety, reduce accidents, and improve traffic flow across the city.
The DIG outlined how technology is transforming traffic management, offering a glimpse into the future of road safety.
The session sparked an engaging Q&A, with students seeking further insights into both criminal justice reforms and traffic law enforcement.
Jaswant Singh, Registrar of Central University Jammu, praised the initiative, acknowledging the significance of such knowledge-sharing efforts in cultivating legal awareness and fostering critical thinking among students.
