‘Conduct census of migrant, pony porters in Katra’

REASI, Oct 28: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Udhampur-Reasi Range (UR Range), Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, today directed the police officers of Reasi District to conduct a joint drill with the CAPF and other intelligence agencies for the safety of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Shrine in Katra.
He passed these directions while chairing a crime/security review meeting at DPO Reasi. Among other officers, the meeting was attended by SSP Reasi, Amit Gupta, Additional SP Reasi, Master Popsy, Additional SP Katra, Vipan Chandran, SDPOs, CPO and Pairvi Officers of the District Reasi.
During the meeting, the DIG UR Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary reviewed the progress on under-investigation and under-trial NDPS and UA(P)A cases. He also reviewed the security of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Katra.
The SDPOs of Sub-Division Reasi explained the officer regarding the disposal of the cases and progress achieved on the under-investigation and under-trial NDPS and UA(P)A cases in their jurisdictions.
SP Reasi put forth a detailed view of District Reasi on under-investigation and under-trial NDPS/UA(P)A cases and presented a detailed security grid put in place for Katra town. He also discussed various security measures going to be placed in view of the festive season en-route and at SMVD shrine.
The DIG UR Range appreciated the efforts of the Reasi Police in achieving the targets. He further instructed for execution of court processes.
Further, the officer directed the police officers to conduct a joint security drill with CAPF and other intelligence agencies for the security of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi shrine.
He also stressed upon the verification and census of the migrants and pony porters in and around Katra town besides checking the entry of any suspicious element in the area.
The DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range also asked the officers to conduct the regular checking of the hotels and other residential accommodations on randomly basis for verification and character and antecedents of the person visiting there.
The SSP Reasi ensured that DIG that all his directions will be implemented on the ground.
