JAMMU, Oct 7: Dilapidated lanes and drains in Ram-Sham lane of Subash Nagar area of Ward 26 has made the life of people there miserable.
An elderly lady fell after stumbling while walking through the lane while many two wheelers fall due to broken tiles and ditches in the lane.
A slab over the drain at the very entrance of the lane is broken and iron bars have come out of it posing a threat to elderly people especially in evening hours when it grows dark there.
“Many times we brought the matter into the notice of concerned Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Councillor but he pays no heed even after three years of being elected,” a local of the lane said.
Many more locals said that while all over the Jammu city, lanes have been covered by colourful tiles and drains are also repaired why these lanes are selectively neglected.
“There are two such lanes running parallel to each other which have suffered the negligence of the Councillor of Ward 26,” other locals informed.
The area falls in Ward 26 of JMC and the affected people have appealed to the JMC Commissioner, Avni Lawasa; Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta and others to look into the matter and direct the authorities concerned to get the lanes and drains of the area repaired.
