RAJOURI, Aug 3: The deteriorating condition of the pillars supporting the Suktoo bridge in Manjakote has raised serious concerns among the residents of the area.
The bridge serving as a vital connection between Manjakote and Dehri Dhara, is at high risk of collapsing due to the heavy flow of water in the river. The aging pillars, which bear the weight of the bridge have reached a critical state and could potentially give way at any moment. The safety of the people using this bridge is paramount and the potential consequences of its collapse could be catastrophic, the locals said.
A local PRI member said it is crucial to highlight this issue to create awareness among the public and mobilize relevant authorities for prompt intervention. He said that he on behalf of Manjakote public appeal to the concerned officials and the Government to allocate necessary funds and resources for the repair or reconstruction of the bridge. Immediate measures are required to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of those who rely on this crucial link between the two areas. It is imperative that prompt action is taken to rectify this situation, mitigating the potential risks, it poses to the public, he added.
He further said that the repair or replacement of the damaged pillars is of utmost importance in order to maintain a safe passage over the Suktoo River and prevent any untoward incidents that may arise from the bridge’s current state. As the situation unfolds, there is a hope that necessary steps will be taken to secure the lives and future of these villagers.
