Dilip Singh elected JUTA president

JAMMU, Jan 16: Prof Dilip Singh Jamwal of Mathematics Department has been elected as president of Jammu University Teachers Association, elections of which were held today.
In a straight contest, he defeated Prof Dhian Singh Bhau of Economics with a margin of 21 votes and was declared elected as JUTA president for the fourth time.
Dilip Singh secured 131 votes while Dhian Singh was polled 109 votes.
Dr Virender Koundal was elected as the general secretary. He got 95 votes in a triangular contest with Vijay Sehgal and Daud Iqbal Baba, who were polled 89 and 59 votes, respectively.
For the post of joint secretary, Dr Vivek Sharma of the Department of Life Long Learning, was declared elected. He defeated Dr Madhulika Bhagat with a huge margin of 63 votes. Among all the winning candidates for different positions, Vivek was polled highest number of votes. He secured 154 votes and was the only successful candidate in the panel of Dhian Singh Bhau.
Out of total 264 votes, 244 were polled.
Dr Vishwa Raksha and Sandeep Arya were already elected unopposed for the post of vice president and treasurer, respectively.
Prof Mubharak Singh, Dean and Head of Department of Education was the election commissioner for the JUTA election 2014-15. He was assisted by Prof Shalender Singh Jamwal, Dr Sanjay Gupta, Dr Satinder Kumar and Dr Savita Nayyar.
