JAMMU, Jan 12: A massive protest demonstration led by Sunil Dimple, president Jammu West Assembly Movement was held on Amphalla Janipur High Court road, here today.
The demonstration was held against the failure of the Government, JMC, PWD R&B, ERA, JDA and Traffic Departments, to solve the rising traffic problem of Jammu City and particularly of Jammu West Constituency.
Hundreds of prominent citizens, irate traders, residents of various localities of the Constituency joined the protest demonstration.
Addressing the demonstration, Sunil Dimple appealed the Governor N N Vohra to direct the authorities to construct the flyovers at Rehari Chungi and Jewel Chowk.
Dimple said the Govt has hardly done any ground work for the improvement of the traffic scenario for the last 20 years, rather has misled the people by giving hallow and false assurances regarding betterment of traffic by enhancing infrastructure.
He demanded starting of metro rail, mono rail and construction of circular roads to solve the traffic problem faced by the people of Jammu City.
Mr Dimple urged upon the Governor N N Vohra for his intervention and directions.
Mr Dimple demanded construction of alternative four way circular road from Ambphalla Manda to High Court Janipur to Roop Nagar, Bantalab and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo via Bhagwati Nagar Canal road to ease the traffic rush problem on the Ambphalla, New Plot, Janipur and Bantalab roads.
He also appealed the Government for the widening of the Jewel Chowk to Purkhu Akhnoor Road, besides demanding construction of multi storeyed parking at Panjtirthi, Super Bazaar Shalmar and at Bus Stand Jammu.
