JAMMU, Sept 14: A delegation of Diploma Engineers Association called on Secretary PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control here today and submitted a memorandum, projecting their demands.
Led by Upinder Singh, president of the Association, the members during meeting with the Secretary at Jal Bhawan here today strongly projected their demands. They stressed for adoption of Punjab pattern for removing the stagnation especially at the level of JE, maintenance of cadre strength at the level of AEE and XEn and enhancement of Field TA from Rs 30 to Rs 5000 per month.
While projecting issues Upinder said that even after rendering 30 years of service, most of the Diploma engineers were aspiring for the first ever promotion of their career. But many of them have been made to retire on the same post with the faulty system adopted by the State government. He said the Association is projecting this issue since long but the people at the helm of affairs in the Government are least bothered to take corrective measures.
He alleged that even 20 % quota earmarked for the Diploma engineers is not being maintained and there is huge shortfall of Diploma engineers as against the allotted 97 posts at the level of AEE, there are only 15 in position and against 22 posts of Executive Engineers, there are only 7 in position. He said just Rs 30 per month as Field Travel Allowance to the engineers these days of inflation, is a cruel joke with them by the State Government. Secretary assured to take serious note of their issues and resolve them shortly.
Members, Anil Gupta, Narinder Singh, Sayeed Tariqm, Arunesh Sharma and Sunil Raina also accompanied.
