Dir Agri launches ‘Meri Policy Mere Hath’ drive

JAMMU, Feb 15: Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu, K.K Sharma on Wednesday launched Meri Policy Mere Hath (MPMH) drive under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for season Rabi 2022-23 here at Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo.
MPMH drive involves door step policy distribution and Fasal Bima Policy Papers will be handed over to insured farmers by empanelled insurance companies like IFFCO TOKIO & Reliance General Insurance Co Ltd with collaboration with Agriculture Department in district Jammu, Samba and Udhampur in Jammu division and district Anantnag in Kashmir Division.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture said that farmers have been empowered against financial losses due to natural calamities by opting Fasal Bima under PMFBY.
He emphasized that Fasal Bima Yojna will go a long way in mitigating financial risk of the farmer suffering from crop losses and it aids in stabilizing farmers’ income.
“This will also ensure flow of credit in Agriculture Sector. During current season about 40,000 policies will be delivered to farmers,” he maintained adding that 182000 farmers in J&K have been covered under PMFBY scheme since Kharif 2021 and insurance claims to the tune of Rs. 56 crore have been settled under PMFBY during Kharif 2021 and Rabi 2021-22.
Manoti Kumar Sharma (CSS), Mahavir Singh Rawat, Reliance GIC and Shubham Paliwal, IFFO Tokio were also present on the occasion besides others.
