JAMMU, Aug 8: Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak today stressed upon the need to encourage high density plantation in kandi belt of Bhalwal block.
“The rainy season is very suitable for new plantation especially in the kandi areas and the farmers should adopt cluster approach to establish new orchards and take benefit of all the schemes of Horticulture Department,” said Ram Savak while addressing farmers/fruit growers during an interaction program organized under Meri Maati-Mera Desh Campaign at Kangar in Bhalwal block.
The programme which was presided over by Director Horticulture, was also attended by Ashwani Sharma (Subject Matter Specialist Pomology Jammu), Sandeep Gupta (Incharge Bhalwal), Sanjay Khajuria and a large number of farmers of the area.
While interacting with farmers, Directror Horticulture deliberated on the details of the Holistic Agriculture Development programme (HADP) providing incentives/assistance for the welfare of the farming community. He sensitized the gathering about the main components of the programme viz. DAKSH- Learning Management System related to skill development, SATHI- Dashboard to apply online for different Government schemes, etc.
He also impressed upon the farmers to adopt Horticulture sector on commercial lines by adopting latest technologies in the field of Mechanization, Modified High Density Plantation, Strawberry Plantation, Aloe-vera Plantation etc.
Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu also motivated the farmers to adopt Horticulture on commercial basis and also gave awareness about online Jan Sugam portal and Kissan Sathi portal to apply for various components in respect of different Horticulture schemes.
Sandeep Gupta while speaking on the occasion briefed the farmers about Strawberry cultivation and other Plantation schemes presently under implementation in the district.
