SRINAGAR, June 28: Director SCERT-JK, Dr (Prof) Parikshat Singh Manhas, conducted a comprehensive tour of the DIET Kulgam during which he inspected various departments within the DIET and reviewed the ongoing construction work, status & maintenance of the heritage room.
He also took stock of training plans and implementation, ongoing research initiatives and crucial material development efforts for capacity building of human resource in the Department of Education in Kulgam.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Manhas said that they must elevate the heritage room to embody the cultural spirit and rootedness envisioned by the NEP 2020. He further highlighted the need for infrastructural improvements, underlining ‘a complete renovation of the DIET complex to reflect the image of a true DIET of Excellence’.
He pledged his unwavering support to the officers at DIET Kulgam, encouraging them to adopt a “missionary mode” in achieving the aspirations of the NEP 2020. He said this transformative policy mandates 50 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) activities for teachers annually. Additionally, it emphasizes the development of innovative learning materials like textbooks, fostering a needs-analysis approach to ensure the holistic growth of the teaching workforce.
This growth, Professor Manhas stressed, is paramount in shaping educators to meet the demands of 21st-century India, a nation brimming with aspirations. Professor Manhas, while stressing on Cultural Integration, said, “Upgrading the heritage room is not just about aesthetics; it’s about fostering a sense of cultural belonging and rootedness, as envisioned by the NEP 2020.”
