Srinagar, Dec 8: Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) while welcoming the announcement of introducing direct flight between Ahmadabad, Srinagar and Jammu said that it is a positive development viz a viz Kashmir tourism which has seen a setback lately.
A TAAK spokesman in a statement said that tourist footfall from Gujarat had lately seen a sharp decline due to negative media propaganda. However, with the start of direct flight to Srinagar and Jammu, it is definitely going to bring laurels to the tourism industry of J&K.
He said for Gujratis, J&K is the most sought after destination and the launch of direct flight will be a big boost to the growth of tourism and hospitality sector of the State.
Labelling the new announcement by the Spice Jet a tremendous shot in the arm for J&K‘s rich travel and tourism sector, President TAAK, Ashfaq Sidiq Dug said that this development will also have domino effect on investments in travel and tourism.
The TAAK President pointed that there is need to offer better connectivity to the other areas of India. “There is already an existing demand and traffic for connectivity between Srinagar and Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and various other cities and these destinations need to be connected with each other. We hope that other Airlines will also take a cue out of this development and introduce direct flights to Srinagar and Jammu,” he said.
