Director Ayush reviews functioning of Ayush Health & Wellness Centres

JAMMU, Feb 22: Director, Ayush J&K Dr Mohan Singh chaired a review meeting of all District Ayush Officers and District Nodal officers of Jammu Division alongwith Community Health Officers Ayush to evaluate the functioning of Ayush Health and Wellness Centres established in Jammu Division.
Director Ayush, J&K Dr Mohan Singh informed that all Ayush Dispensaries will be upgraded to Ayush H&WCs in a phased manner by 2023-24.
A detailed presentation was presented to Director Ayush regarding the functioning of Ayush Health and Wellness Centres. Director Ayush while interacting with CHOs of these AHWCs stressed the need to implement the scheme in letter and spirit in accordance with the guidelines of Ministry of Ayush, GoI.
He was informed that these AHWCs are empanelling local inhabitants, determination of Parkriti/Mizaj in accordance with the basic principles of Ayurveda and Unani Medicine. Common Diagnostic tests for Blood Sugar, Pregnancy, HIV, Hemoglobin, Hepatitis, Syphilis, Malaria, Dengue etc are being carried out in these AYUSH H&WCs. Further Herbal gardens with at least 15 species of locally grown herbs have been established in these AYUSH H&WCs. Yoga Asasans are being promoted among general public through trained Yoga Instructors to cure lifetstyle and anxiety disorders.
During the meeting, Dr Mohan Singh gave a patient hearing to various issues put up by District Ayush Officers and District Nodal Officers Ayush and CHOs and gave on spot directions to the concerned for redressing the issues. He directed all CHOs of AHWCs to increase their work done through community participation and providing best Ayush Healtcare services to the general public. He advised that the herbal gardens established in these Ayush H&WCS shall not only serve to demonstrate Medicinal Plants used for home remedies but also promote the cultivation of locally grown herbs among farmers/growers for which J&K Medicinal Plants Board shall provide subsidies in accordance with guidelines of Ministry of Ayush.
He informed that there will be performance based monitoring of all AHWCs and CHOs shall accordingly work for the benefit of general public. He appreciated the work of Dr Ravi Dutt Sharma CHO AHWC Baspur, RS Pura for best practices under the scheme and advised for his nomination for best performance award. The CHOs were also provided information on best practices, Medicinal Plants and Schemes under Ayush and other National Programs.
Dr Rakesh Kumar Raina, Assistant Director Directorate of Ayush and Sonam Singh, Accounts Officer Directorate of Ayush were among others who attended the meeting.
