Director CA&PD stresses for energy saving

JAMMU Jan 16: The Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight commenced here today. In this regard a function was organised by Oil Industry and Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) at Hotel Fortune Inn Rivera, where Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Jammu, G. S. Chib flagged off publicity van.
This year’s slogan is “Indhan Bachao-Jan Dhan Bachao” and the aim of celebration of Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight is to create awareness among the people for conservation of oil and gas.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chib emphasized on the need of energy saving for a secure future. He said that observing the fortnight symbolises the efforts of the Government to promote saving of its hydrocarbon related energy resources which are non-renewable in nature.
He said that women folk, especially house wives, have to play a pivotal role in conserving and preserving gas, oil and electricity, adding that timely precautions can avert big tragedies in future.
State Level Coordinator, Oil Industry, Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Ranjan, in his speech, elaborated salient features of the programme. He said that main objective of celebrating fortnight is to create awareness about fuel saving tips in various fields dependent on oil and gas including transport, industries, agricultural and household sectors. He stressed on achieving the goal by launching awareness programme in urban as well as rural areas.
Mr Girish Ranjan said that during the fortnight various events aimed at creating awareness about conserving petroleum products including symposiums, easy competitions, painting, slogan writing, advt. making would be held in schools and colleges across the State. Cycle race, mass rallies, seminars and workshops would also be the part of the programme.
Besides senior Government officials, members of oil industry, channel partners and customers were present at the inaugural function.
