REASI, Jan 19: Director Command Area Development, Jammu Shiv Kumar Gupta today conducted an extensive tour to Panthal area of district Reasi to inspect the ongoing OFD Works of CAD Jammu under NABARD(RIDF XXIX) under which 400 Hectares CCA will be covered with an estimated cost of Rs 140 lakh to extend benefits to 460 farmer families.
During the visit, the Director CAD Jammu interacted with farmers of the area and informed them about the benefits of assured irrigation facilities.
He also instructed the contractors to maintain the quality of the OFD Works as per the guidelines. He impressed upon the farmers to make efficient use of irrigation facilities and shift from the conventional cropping pattern towards the cultivation of the cash crops to uplift their economic status. He further advised the farmer to take maximum benefit of assured irrigation facilities.
ASCO RRD and other field staff accompanied the Director during the tour. He impressed upon the officials to ensure timely completion of the works and keep constantly monitoring the pace and quality of works.
It is the objective of the Command area to bridge the gap between the irrigation potential created and its utilisation by the farmers.
Command area is committed to provide availability of water to the farming community by undertaking various on farm development works which includes construction of water channels on fields. It is the endeavour of the CAD Jammu the water reaches even to the tail end so that the agricultural activities are boosted in the most optimal way.
Pertinent to mention that NABARD on the requested of Agriculture production department has sanctioned 08 projects for augmenting the irrigation and on farm development works in Jammu Division of Command area during the current financial year.
