JAMMU, May 26: Director FCS&CA Jammu Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary today conducted surprise inspections of Fair Price Shops (FPS) to check the compliance of guidelines and norms by FPS dealers of Jammu district for delivery of food grains under Public Distribution System.
He was accompanied by Deputy Director Dr Javed Iqbal Rather, Assistant Director Jammu Rural-II Vipan Bhagat and other officials of FCS&CA department. The Director visited the Government food store at Bishnah and adjoining Fair Price Shops to assess the implementation of online Aadhaar authentication through electronic Point of Sales (PoS) machines installed at every fair price shop and implementation of Aadhaar seeding especially through electronic PoS machines.
During the checking, Chowdhary also directed the concerned officers to take necessary steps to ensure smooth functioning of FPSs and to take immediate necessary measures to display of stock of food grains outside each and every FPS so that every beneficiary should know the availability of food grains in the concerned Fair Price Shop.
He further directed the concerned officers to ensure that all the prescribed information is displayed on the boards of all FPSs as no laxity will be tolerated on the part of “erring” FPS dealers. He directed the officers to conduct surprise visits more frequently and ensure that all SOPs of COVID-19 are followed while providing the ration to the beneficiaries.
The Director was also appraised by the accompanying team that under Public Distribution Scheme, Government is running two major programmes by the name of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalayaan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) and more than 80 percent food grains have been distributed in both the schemes in entire Jammu division.
