KATHUA, Feb 2: Amit Sharma, Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Jammu today made a comprehensive tour of Kathua district wherein functioning of various Atta Grinding Mills in Kathua were inspected and directions were given to improve their functioning. He was accompanied with Assistant Director, Kathua T.P Singh, supervisors and other officials of the Department.
During this surprise inspection, Amit Sharma checked the quality of PDS ration being processed in these mills and issued directives to concerned to keep separate storage and godowns for PDS supplies. Largely, the functioning of mills in Kathua was found in order except for few discrepancies for which AD, Kathua assured immediate remedial measures for correction.
The major mills of Kathua which were inspected by Sharma, included Saraswati Floor Mill located near Palli Morh, Amrit Flour Mill located at Nihalpur and Shiva Floor Mill located at College Road, Kathua. All the millers were present and they committed to improve the functioning in terms of working, proper weight of all bags, moisture maintenance and even proper percentage of bran in Atta.
Director, FCS&CA also took a review of functioning of Department in Kathua in which AD Kathua mentioned about filling up vacant posts, provision of a store at the earliest in Kathua and conduct of an administrative inspection here in near future.
Amit Sharma took prompt action and talked to DC Kathua, Rohit Khajuria who assured identification of a portion of land soon on National Highway for construction of Food Store Kathua wherein movement of heavy vehicles would be convenient.
