Director FCS&CA Ladakh takes stock of essential commodities’ availability

KARGIL, Nov 9: Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Ladakh Anil Koul took stock of the availability of essential commodities in Kargil and Leh districts in view of the onset of winter season and road blockade due to snowfall at Zojila axis and surrounding areas in a meeting of the concerned officers.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kargil, Assistant Director FCS&CA Kargil, Assistant Registrar Cooperatives Kargil, Inspector Food Safety Kargil, Members of Enforcement Team of FCS&CA Kargil, President Merchant Association Kargil, President Vegetable and Mutton Sellers Association Kargil besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
During the course of the meeting, the Director FCS&CA Ladakh while underlining the need to maintain vigil to prevent hoarding and black marketing instructed the Enforcement Team of FCS&CA for strict implementation of the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act 1980.
President Market Association Kargil was directed to ensure supply all essential commodities especially onion and other vegetables in the market.
The Chief Animal Husbandry Officer informed the meeting that adequate reserve stocks of poultry birds and eggs in Kargil and Zanskar have been maintained to ensure availability during the ensuing winter season.
The Director FCS&CA Ladakh directed the AD FCS&CA Kargil to maintain close liaison with the District Administration, BRO and Traffic Police to ensure the passage of vehicles carrying essential commodities and perishable goods as soon as the Sonamarg Kargil road is restored for vehicular traffic.
Meanwhile, the AD FCS&CA Leh informed the Director that adequate quantity of essential commodities are available at Leh and currently winter stocks of daily use items are being implemented by wholesale dealers.
