Srinagar, July 2: The Director Finance of Health & Medical Education (H&ME) Department Mohammad Rafiq Hajam today passed away at AIIMS, New Delhi where he was admitted following a massive stroke.
He was admitted to AIIMS after he suffered a massive brain stroke last week and was immediately flown to Delhi for specialized treatment, where he was put on ventilators support and breathed his last Thursday night.
Hailing from Larav Kakapora of south Kashmir’s Pulwama, Rafiq was a senior KAS officer working in the department and was recently assigned a job of facilitating the resolution of various problems faced by the doctors by the Chief Secretary, Dr Atul Kumar Mehta.
The senior officer earlier served as Director Finance, Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department, and Saddar Treasury Officer, Srinagar as well.
Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta expressed profound grief over the untimely demise of Director Finance, Mohammad Rafiq Hajam and remembered him as a dedicated and competent officer who served with commitment in his capacity.
The Additional Chief Secretary remembered Rafiq as a competent officer who he said, served with the commitment in his capacity as Director Finance, Health & Medical Education Department.
