JAMMU, May 30: Director Employment, Nisar Ahmad Wani, today inaugurated one day ‘Job Fair’ at Employment Complex, Toph Sherkhania, Jammu.
The event was organized by District Employment and Counseling Centre, Jammu, wherein eighteen companies participated and offered more than 500 jobs in different sectors. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from job seekers with more than 1000 youth participating in the event.
On the occasion, Director interacted with the job providers and job seekers and highlighted the importance of such events for educated unemployed youth of the region.
He said that the Government is facilitating the unemployed youth to avail employment in the private sector by organizing regular Job fairs. The main purpose of these events is to bridge the gap between Job seekers and Job Providers and provide them a common platform, he added.
He encouraged and motivated the participants to broaden their career choices and seek alternate employment avenues by looking for gainful employment opportunities available in private sector. He also deliberated upon various other departmental activities and emphasized on self employment in addition to employment in private sector.
Director said that such platforms are meant to provide private companies with an opportunity to exhibit their vacancies, skill requirements and make on spot recruitments whereas the unemployed youth get an opportunity to interact with companies available under one roof, learn about skills in demand and secure gainful employment for themselves.
Joint Director Employment, Dr. Khalid Hussain Malik also addressed the event and highlighted the importance of the fair.
Nearly, eighteen companies from different sectors including HDFC Bank Limited, Axis Bank Limited Bajaj Allianz Limited, Jio Mart, Emcure Pharmaceuticals, Ravenbhel Biotech, Paytm, Innov Solutions, Fairdeal Motors and others participated with vacancies available in Jammu and adjacent areas.
More than 1000 job seekers participated in the event, of which, 160 candidates were shortlisted by the participating companies.
