JAMMU, Aug 29: Director Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu Iftikhar Hussain Chauhan today convened a meeting of the District Treasury Officers/ City Treasury Officers of Jammu province to review the functioning of the Treasuries.
The representatives from the office of Accountant General, Joint Director Funds Organization Jammu and NIC also participated in the meeting.
The Director Accounts & Treasuries has laid emphasis on the strict implementation of Biometrics Attendance System saying the Treasuries are the face of Finance Department and strict adherence to codal provisions for smooth and transparent functioning reflects its true spirit.
Besides, online transaction is of utmost importance for rendition of monthly accounts to various quarters in stipulated time frame, he said.
He also informed the meeting that on his request, the Accountant General has framed a high Powered Committee. “This office in collaboration with the office of the worthy Accountant General had devised a scheduled programme for each and every Treasury Officer/ Dealing Hand to visit AG office with documentary evidences for clearance of Audit Paras/OB suspense/ Red DC Accounts”, he said.
While reviewing the performance regarding computerization of Treasuries, the Director Accounts & Treasuries, Jammu informed that all the Treasuries of Jammu Province are computerized. The Sub-Treasuries which are declared non-feasible due to non-connectivity with Lease Line/ VSAT are connected through VPN. However, in case of some Treasuries where even VPN is also not working due to far-flung location, harsh topography and non-availability of service provider the Treasury Officers are directed to feed the data from nearby District Treasury to put the non-feasible Treasuries on computerization and for 100% achievement in this regard.
