JAMMU, Sept 17: Director Social Welfare Jammu, Dr Bharat Bhushan here today held a meeting of all the 10 Districts Social Welfare Officers of Jammu division to review the functioning of the department.
The Director discussed the issue of verification of eligible pensioners and issued several instructions to the officers to make necessary corrections.
The officers informed the Director that pension amount sanctioned in favour of the pensioners is reversed in the official account of the officer in case of account of the pensioner being inactive or if there is any difference in the title.
After proper verification the same amount is remitted into the treasury if it remains undisbursed for a certain period of time.
Districts Social Welfare Officers were asked to obtain Aadhar number and Live Certificate from the approved pensioners so that only genuine and eligible pensioners may get pension in a hassle-free and transparent manner.
Directions were also given to the Districts Social Welfare Officers to ensure timely disbursement of scholarships to the eligible students.
The Director further informed that the government has sanctioned 15717 new cases under Integrated Social Security Scheme in Jammu province and all the Districts Social Welfare Officers were directed that proper verification of pending cases should be conducted and only eligible and deserving cases be recommended to the sanctioning authority for approval.
Working of Observation Home in R.S Pura, School for Blinds in Roop Nagar, Nari Niketans and Bal Ashrams of the province was also discussed in the meeting.
Deputy Director (Adm), Supriya Kohli, Deputy Director Planning, Kuldeep Singh and other officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
