Director RS reviews rural area arrangements

JAMMU, Sept 22: In an efforts to ensure the cleanliness of villages with the participation of community members, PRIs and all other stakeholders “Swachhata Shramdaan” under the campaign of “Swachhta Hi Seva” at Panchayat Dhok Wazarian, Block Nagrota was held under the chairmanship of Director, Rural Sanitation.
A large number of programme are being organized by the Directorate of Rural sanitation, J&K across the UT for keeping the villages visually clean e.g. cleaning of water bodies, Swachhata Pledge, Swachhata Sharamdan, Sarpanch Samvad etc. will be the highlights of the two week long initiative planned by Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Govt. of India under Phase-II of the Swachh Bharat Mission- Grameen (SBM-G).
The event was attended by BDC, Rehmat Ali, Sarpanch Dhok Wazarian Raman Wazir, Deputy Director, Rural Sanitation, Jammu Sanna Khan, Asstt. Commissioner Development Jammu Preeti Sharma JKAS, Field Officer, Rural Sanitation, Jammu Sania Haq Khan, JKAS, Block Development Officer, Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Jammu, Preeti Sharma, Block Development Officer, Nagrota, Shalini Raina, and Ajay Singh, Account Officer, Directorate of Rural Sanitation, J&K.
The Director, Rural Sanitation alongwith all the officers present and PRI members collected the garbage and cleaned the 500 mtr stretch from church gate to Panchayat Ghar Dhok Wazarian ward No.1 after which a rally was taken out by the students of convent school, Nagrota, holding the Banners of Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS). The rally culminated at Panchayat Ghar Dhok Wazarian ward No.1. This was followed by a Swachhata Pledge administered by the Director, Rural Sanitation, Charandeep Singh, who also interacted with the students. He also motivated the students to maintain a plastic free, litter free and clean in their environment and be the ambassadors of Swachhata in their respective areas.
The Director took a round of the Panchayat Ghar where activities/facilities like Health Club (Ladies and Gents), Ladies Gram Sabha, Public library, Drug Abuse Control & follow up, Play Ground, Recreation Room, First aid Room are being provided to the people of the area. He appreciated the efforts of Sarpanch in maintaining the Panchayat as Model Panchayat.
