SRINAGAR, Jan 13: Ahead of “Resham Krishi Mela” at P4 Basic Seed Farm, Manasbal, a review meeting was held here today at Srinagar.
The meeting was held by the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department, Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar under the chairmanship of Director Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat for the upcoming Resham Krishi Mela.
Director Sericulture J&K emphasized the significance of the Resham Krishi Mela and announced that departmental stalls would be installed and the event is scheduled for January 17, 2024, at P4 Basic Seed Farm, Central Silk Board, Manasbal, about 500 farmers are participating in the event. The Director highlighted the department’s commitment to supporting unemployed youth and farmers.
He urged them to actively engage with the department to avail of the various schemes and benefits introduced by the Government for their welfare. During the discussions the Director Sericulture exhorted upon the officers present in the meeting that the farmers and Silkworm rearers should be made aware about the department’s efforts for making Mulberry leaf reserves readily available, implementation of Technological Interventions to strengthen Sericulture in the UT of J&K, Development of Rearing Infrastructure at farmers level, Supply of Chawki Reared Worms to the farmers for ease in Rearing, Upgradation of Seed related departmental infrastructure for production of quality Silkworm Seed and skill development of famers.
Director Sericulture further emphasized upon the officers that a proactive approach is required to be adopted to implement all the schemes of the department in order to achieve all the objectives envisioned in Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
The Director Sericulture J&K expressed optimism about the positive impact the event would have on the Sericulture Industry of Jammu and Kashmir. The Director Central Sericulture Research & Training Institute, CSB, Pampore, Dr N.K. Bhatia, and the officers from the department participated in the meeting.
