KATHUA, Aug 2: The Senior Citizens Forum, Kathua and Sa Re Gama Musical Group today paid floral tribute to legendary singer, Mohammad Rafi on his death anniversary.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Director, Social Welfare Jammu (SWJ) was the chief guest of the function who along with D.S. Bhalwal of Senior Citizens Forum, Varun Chaudhary, District Social Welfare Officer, Kathua, Gian Singh Pathania, members of Citizens Forum and Sa Re Gama Musical Group paid floral tributes to Mohammad Rafi – the renowned singer who is considered to have been one of the greatest and most melodious singers of the Indian Subcontinent.
Pertinent to mention here that Mohammad Rafi who was born on 24th November, 1924 breathed his last on July, 31 in1980.
Along with Mohammad Rafi, the local singers and artists who passed away in recent years like Rakesh Lovely, O.P. Sambyal, Prem Gupta, Girdhari Lal and others were also paid floral tributes by the chief guest, senior citizens and members of the families of the remembered local artists & singers.
On the occasion local singers remembered Mohammad Rafi and local singers by singing their songs.
Director Social Welfare also released latest collection of Children Poetary Book- “Khatalu” written by Vijay Sharma of Kathua who has many publications to his credit and has been conferred National Bal Sahitya Puraskar for the year 2019 by Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi.
