Director Tourism conducts extensive tour of Reasi

REASI, Apr 9: Following the directions of Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Tourism Department, Yasha Mudgal, the Director Tourism, Jammu, Vikas Gupta, along with Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Aijaz Qaiser and a team of officers and officials from the department, today undertook an extensive tour of the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world’s highest railway bridge located at Bakkal-Kauri in District Reasi. The visit aimed to promote this engineering marvel as a major tourism attraction and to review the tourism infrastructure en route.
During the visit, the Director Toursim held discussions with the Railways authorities.The discussions focused on utilizing the museum space to showcase promotional literature, videos, and publicity material highlighting the rich and diverse tourism destinations of Jammu & Kashmir. This initiative is expected to enhance tourist engagement and boost visibility of the region’s tourism offerings.
Enroute to Reasi, the team visited various tourism sites including Jhajjar Kotli, Katra, Nau Devian, Aghar Jitto,Bhimgarh Fort and Baradari, to review existing infrastructure and explore avenues for further development and promotion.
At Baradari, the Director Tourism interacted with Adventure Tour Operators (ATOs) involved in white water rafting on the Chenab River. The operators shared feedback and suggestions for strengthening adventure tourism in the region. The Director assured them of the department’s full support and emphasized the importance of adhering to safety standards and promoting responsible, sustainable adventure tourism
During the visit, the Director Tourism directed officers to ensure the effective utilization of tourism assets and to prepare proposals for their outsourcing through suitable models for improved service delivery and management. He also stressed the need for close coordination with the District Administration to facilitate infrastructure development and promote the region as a key tourism destination.
Also accompanying were Assistant Director Tourism NHW Batote, Arif Lone; Assistant Director Tourism Katra, Alka Misra; representatives from the E&Y team, and other officials of the Tourism Department.
