JAMMU, Oct 16: Under the supervision of Secretary Tourism, Sarmad Hafeez, the Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with Bee True Trade successfully organized a one Day Dance Platform Event at Teacher’s Bhawan Gandhi Nagar.
The event was organized to create awareness amongst the younger generation about drug menace and the commitment towards the ‘War on Drugs’. The event is part of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” which has recently been launched by Government of India.
To make society free from all kind of harmful addictions and drugs abuse, the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” was launched to focus on institutional support and also on community outreach programmes across India. The Department of Tourism is also organizing activities which are beneficial for the society and keeps younger generation aware about the ill practices prevalent in the communities.
Similar activity was organized during the recently concluded Surinsar Mansar Lake Festival at Surinsar. In addition, tourism destinations of Jammu region were also showcased on LED amid loud cheers of audiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism Jammu, Vivekananda Rai said that the Directorate of Tourism Jammu is committed to promoting Jammu as a popular tourist destination among tourists of all generations and the endeavour includes our commitment to fight the menace of Drugs and all our stakeholders and citizens must actively participate in such endeavours to spread awareness about ‘Nasha Mukti’.
The ‘Dance platform Season 1’ event at Gandhi Nagar Jammu was attended by Vivekanand Rai, Director Tourism, Jammu as Chief Guest, Suniana Sharma Mehta, Joint Director Tourism Jammu, Prof. Manoj Dhar, Former Vice Chancellor University of Jammu.
Besides, the event was attended by prominent personalities such as Dr. Vinod sharma, Director Ram Nagar Campus, University of Jammu, Javed Ahmed, Dy. Sp. Operations, Jammu, Albeena Malik, Dy. Sp. Railways Jammu and officers from the Railway Department
Deepak Shetty (Director Bee True Trade Pvt Ltd) also attended the event along with his team from Mangalore and welcomed the efforts of the Tourism Department, J&K in promoting Jammu as a safe and popular destination by showcasing the scenic and heritage destinations of Jammu region through a detailed presentation and display on LED screen.
The event was also attended by famous Bollywood Choreographer Kartik Raja who travelled all the way from Mumbai to the City of Temples and also gave a mesmerizing special performance on the occasion. Scintillating performances were presented by young achievers from various districts of Jammu region. Achievers of national and international repute also presented spell bound performances on Gymnasium, semi classical, dogri folk, contemporary and other popular dance forms.
