Directs replacement of damaged PHE water pipes from Nowhar to Zuhama

SRINAGAR: Minister for Agriculture Production, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, convened a meeting to review progress on various developmental works taken under the Public Health Engineering, Roads & Buildings, and ERA sectors in the Chrar-e-Sharief Constituency here today.

The Minister directed officials of the PHE Department to prepare estimates for replacement of old and damaged PHE water pipes from Nowhar to Zuhama in the Constituency. He also asked them to submit the proposal to the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) for immediate release of funds.

The meeting held detailed discussions on implementation of raw water line from Nowhar to Kralpora Water Treatment Plant costing Rs 43 crore. It was said that about 50 percent of the estimated costs of the project were incurred on different works like laying of pipeline, road construction, pipe racks, intake works and other related works, so far.

During the meeting, Hanjura also reviewed progress of various road projects and directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work on Kralpora to Nowhar road and complete it by the end of August this year.

He further directed the R&B authorities to start work on Chadoora-Branwar Hajin road for which Rs 15 crore have already been sanctioned. He said the present Government headed by the Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti is striving to further improve the road connectivity in the State.

Earlier, the District Development Commissioner, Budgam Mir Altaf Ahmad, Director ERA Satish Razdan, Chief Engingeer PHE Kashmir G. M. Bhat and other Senior Officers of PHE, R&B and ERA briefed the meeting about the works taken under these sectors in the Constituency.

Threadbare discussions were also held on repair of Buchroo drainage system, construction of Shivpora-Choudhrigund and macadamization of Wathura-Namthihall roads. The Minister directed the executing agency to complete the developmental works on time so that people don’t face any inconvenience.
