A decision in this regard was taken after SSP Samba highlighted in the meeting of District Level Standing Committee on Border Security the need for issuance of prohibitory orders for mandatory disclosure of details of outsiders working in the industries/construction companies/business establishments/domestic helpers/tenants (commercial and agricultural) as according to him, there have been instances of anti-national/anti-social elements seeking hideouts in the residential areas in the guise of tenants/domestic helpers.
It was told in the meeting that the BSF authorities have also raised concerns on several occasions about some suspicious outsider families, who are settled close to the International Border (IB) by taking land on rental basis from the farmers, with their involvement in activities detrimental to the national security.
Taking note of the concerns raised by the stakeholders, District Magistrate Samba, Rajesh Sharma has directed all the landlords, property owners, and business operators to submit the complete details of their tenants and workers to the authorities.
As per an order issued by the DM Samba, for new tenants or workers, this information must be provided within 10 days of them moving in or starting work.
The DM Samba’s directive also covered the existing tenants and workers, who must be reported within the same timeframe.
The rule applied to all type of properties, including residential homes, business premises, agricultural land, and even temporary shelters like slums.
In addition, the order issued by the DM Samba has mandated police verification of the information submitted.
Further, as per the order, local officials have been tasked with spreading awareness about the new rules in the border villages.
The order, issued under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, is effective immediately and will remain in force until further notice.
Failure to comply with the directive will lead to strict action, warned the order issued by DM Samba.
