Discrepancy in village weekly

Sir,
It has reference to the “Village  Weekly” published in the “Sunday Magazine”edition of your esteemed daily on July 19, 2015 about “khunda village” in Kargil district.
I am yet again responding to the columns not as a critic but with the intention to point towards discrepancies with the hope of seriousness in future. The series can lead to improvement in these villages as the concerned authorities can take cognizance of the issues and work for taking corrective interventions.
The tragedy of our country is that the policies are framed on the basis of surveys that lack seriousness  or are manipulated. Even the CENSUS  in our country is not authentic as it is also manipulated at times.
Coming back to the write-up which is based on survey, the author has erred  in location of the village. The author says “It is situated at mid point on the highway connecting Kargil with Drass,at distance of 65 Km from Drass and 55 Km from Kargil.” As such distance between Kargil and Drass comes to 120KMs while it is around 60 KMs only.Such mistakes can not be attributed to village representatives’ or officers’ feedback but need individual authentication.
To conclude, it is hoped that the author will be more focussed in future to add relevance to the series.
Yours etc….
