JAMMU, May 14: Reports of people being subjected to social discrimination even having recovered from the Coronavirus infection and declared COVID-19 negative after their treatment, are really very unfortunate and not healthy development for the society. Such an approach towards them may demoralize them and hamper their routine activities.
This was stated by Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party, Spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan, while expressing surprise over the change in the behavior of the society towards such people, who got infected by the deadly virus, but later, recovered and rejoined their families to start their life like a normal person. He said that it would be appreciable if such persons are complimented and felicitated for having fought the virus like a warrior and defeating it.
Balbir said that a person who suddenly comes to know of being tested COVID-19 positive gets shocked and mentally disturbed but registering victory over the virus gives him or her a sense of satisfaction that he or she is normal like earlier and can start his day to day activities once again but changed approach of the society certainly demoralizes the person.
Balbir reiterated that COVID -19 is like any other flu, except that the prescribed treatment for it is yet to be established. It has become a pandemic not because it is a killer virus but because the human body has yet to become immune to it, for which the research is going on.
