SAMBA, Oct 4: With successive Governments at the centre and the erstwhile J&K state doling out a step motherly treatment to Jammu region, the people of incarcerated Dogra land have continued to remain neglected and deprived and the present BJP led Government was no exception in this regard.
This was stated by J&K NPP president Harsh Dev Singh while addressing a huge public gathering at Sumb in Samba constituency along with Yash Paul Kundal (Ex-Minister and J&K president of the Young Panthers).
Accusing the Government of administering recurrent dozens of discrimination to Jammu region even after Art 370 abrogation, Singh, while referring to the recent order issued by the Government with regard to creation of posts in education department, regretted the extremely biased treatment given to Dogri and Sanskrit subjects which are taught in Jammu region.
He said the Government approved merely 5 posts of Dogri and 22 posts of Sanskrit whereas it approved creation of 122 posts of Kashmiri language, 150 posts of Islamic studies and 60 posts of Arabic for Kashmir. While the creation of additional posts for Kashmir was welcomed, the provision of negligible share to Jammu in the process of new creations of the posts had once again exposed the double standard of the helmsmen, Singh added.
“It was followed by another announcement by the present Government to absorb the gun wielding youth in Government jobs or in self employment schemes in case they gave up arms. Further the new domicile law operates more harshly against the Jammu youth as majority of the outsiders have settled in Jammu. Not only have they procured the domicile certificates but have applied for jobs in Jammu division thus encroaching upon the already limited job avenues for the local youth”, lamented Singh.
Yash Paul Kundal said NPP was committed to protection of lands and jobs of the locals and would continue to agitate the issues till it were addressed in right perspective by providing for adequate constitutional safeguards as available to north eastern states.
