JAMMU, June 26: DISHA-INDIA organized a function for launching of new project ‘DISHA Students Scholarship’ programme here.
The programme was attended by a large number of people including women, children and senior citizens.
The Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner Ashok Pandita, was the chief guest and Arun Kaul, Managing Director, Adonis Health Systems Private Limited was the guest of honour.
Chairman, PK Koul, in his address, highlighted the achievements of DISHA-INDIA since its inception in the year 2004.
He said that the new project under the name of DISHA Students Scholarship programme has been launched today. A humble beginning has been made by disbursing monthly scholarship to seven students from less privileged families, he said and emphasized the need to reach out to more such families so that the benefits accrue to a large section of the target group.
Arun Kaul, Managing Director, Adonis Health Systems Private Limited, in his address emphasized the need to provide quality education to all including the girls. An eco-system should be developed so that there are no school dropouts.
Ashok Pandita, Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), dealt at length the measuresbeing taken up by the Government to ameliorate the overall socio-economic conditions of the displaced Kashmiri people. He assured that genuine problems of the people will be addressed and all possible steps should be taken in this direction.
Suruchi Kaul, Neeru Tiku, Usha Raina, Kuldeep Bhat, Opender Koul, Pran Pandita, ML Raina, Sanjay Koul, Dr Jitendriya Kaul, Dr Vinod Koul, Bushan Koul, PL Talashi, MK Goja, PN Bhat and Ashok Bhat were among others present on the occasion.
Anil Tickoo compared the program and the vote of thanks was presented by Opender Kaul.
