JAMMU, Oct 16: Warning that the “threat” posed by the Islamic State (IS) in Jammu and Kashmir should not be taken lightly, Panun Kashmir (PK) today urged the Indian Government to bring to the fore the extent of Pan-Islamic radicalization in Jammu and Kashmir and its relationship with separatist formations in the State.
At a joint press conference here, PK convener, Dr Agnishekhar and its chairman Dr Ajay Chrungoo said “terrorism in Kashmir started with the waving of Pakistani flags and now they have raised the flag of Islamic State. It is their (IS’s) declaration that we have arrived in Kashmir,” they added.
Terming it a serious situation the PK leaders said the Government should dismantle entire ISIS network before they can mobilize in the State.
They said the world opinion needs to be properly educated that the separatist ferment in J&K always had a regressive Pan-Islamic content which organizations like LeT, Al Qaida and its new clone ISIS have. The visible integration of separatist movement in J&K with global Jihad is not a result of any compulsion but an outcome of its ideological affinity with it, they added.
Expressing his concern over waiving of ISIS flags in Kashmir Agnishekhar said that the Omar Abdullah Government should not take these threats lightly as the waving of ISIS flags in Kashmir is a matter of great concern and must be dealt with seriously.
“Pakistan is the breeding ground for all types of terrorism and all the terrorist outfits like Islamic State, Al Qaida and Lashker-e-Toiba all are connected,” said Ajay Chrungoo.
He said Government of India should realize the fact that world opinion is now more sensitized to the role which the Pakistani society is playing in unleashing global Jihad. The rebuff of UN to the pleadings of Pakistan by refusing to play any intermediary role is also an outcome of this realization, he added.
PK general secretary, Kuldeep Raina and its secretary to press M K Dhar were also present in the press conference.
