Displaced Kashmiris protest against Relief Organisation

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 28: A strong protest was held by the Displaced Kashmiri community against what they called unbecoming attitude of relief authorities.
The protestors with placards and banners in their hands said that instead of being facilitator for their welfare , the relief authorities are putting hurdles in their day to day routine work. In this regard they said the latest example of high handedness is the order issued by the Relief organisation in which the ration dealers of the migrants are to be decided by the relief authorities rather than the beneficiaries, which is unacceptable. Previously the migrant family used to get ration from the dealer who was close to their place of their residence , but now God knows where their ration dealer will be. Thus creating unnecessary hurdles for the relief holders, they added.
The protestors said that the Relief Commissioner’s, office has turned into a den of inefficiency and incompetence, where even ordinary work of the migrant gets delayed by months together. The Relief Commissioner on record has asked the displaced community to submit their Aadhar cards etc for enhancement of their cash assistance , but that to be farce.
He said further the attitude of the Relief authorities towards the migrants is rude and abusive and migrants are subjected to humiliation, irrespective of their age , gender etc.
The protestors said under these circumstances, what to speak of implementing welfare schemes, the relief authorities are hell bent upon pushing the community further to the wall. This implies that a deep rooted conspiracy is being hatched to stall the rehabilitation of the displaced Kashmiri community. The displaced Kashmiri community makes an appeal to LG ‘s administration to look into the issue.
