Displaced Pandits reject NAFSA form

JAMMU, Jan 5: Displaced Kashmiri Pandits today rejected the implementation of the NAFSA (National Automated Financial System Application) form. The decision was taken in a one day convention held here in which representatives of various KP organisaitons participated.
The convention was organised by community leaders Kuldeep Kashmiri and Bharat Kachroo. The meeting was presided over by former Vice-Chancellor, Dr Rattan Lal Hangloo.
Speaking at the event Kuldeep Kashmiri termed the NAFSA form as a “draconian document” and cautioned the community against falling prey to the “nefarious designs” of certain individuals attempting to mislead them. He emphasized the importance of unity and vigilance in combating such threats to the community’s welfare. Dr. Agnishekhar, convener of Panun Kashmir, urged the younger generation to take the reins and lead the community in resisting the NAFSA form. He warned of its potentially dire consequences if it is not opposed unequivocally.
Brij Nath Bhat, chief of Nagdandi Ashram Achabal, encouraged the youth to adopt a cohesive approach by involving Narishakti (women power) in decision-making processes. He advised seeking legal recourse if the Government insists on implementing the form, highlighting the need for proactive measures to safeguard the community’s interests. R.K. Bhat, president of YAIKS, reinforced the need for unity asserting that challenges like the NAFSA form will not be accepted as community has made many sacrifices since it was forced to lead an exiled life. He expressed his willingness to work under the guidance of senior community leaders for the collective good. The convention witnessed participation from representatives of various areas, including Jagti, Muthi, Buta Nagar and Purkhoo. Sunil Fotedar, president of Vision Kashmir, also addressed the gathering along with other notable speakers, including Comrade Mohan Lal Raina, Ashok Dhar, Hira Lal Pandita (president, Congress Minority Cell), Sunil Pandita, Ashwani, Manoj Pandita and others. The community leaders collectively resolved to oppose the NAFSA form “tooth and nail” and remain steadfast in their efforts to protect the rights and dignity of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
Other speakers include Rahul Dass, CL Koul, Ravinder Razdan, Rajesh Kachroo, Pran Nath, Ramesh, Ramesh Sopori, Veer Raina, RK Koul, Adv Wali, MK Razdan, Dalip Pandita and others.
