JAMMU, Nov 25: In connection with the ‘Shahidi Divas’, the displaced persons from Pak occupied Kashmir held strong protest demonstration at Maheshpura Chowk near Govt Medical College, Bakshi Nagar here today and demanded justice for the community.
A large number men, women and children belonging to displaced community from Mirpur, Kotli and Muzaffrabad,  now residing in various parts of Jammu region, assembled at Maheshpura Chowk under the leadership of Capt ( Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib and held strong protest rally followed by a dharna.
They  paid floral tributes to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while fighting with the Pakistani raiders in 1947 at Mirpur, Kotli, Muzaffrabad and other places, at the  ‘Shahidi Samarak’ at Maheshpura Chowk. All the participants observed two minute silence to pay their respect to the departed souls. They were carrying banners and placards projecting their demand of one time comprehensive settlement.  Several speakers addressed the gathering and alleged that these DPs were struggling for  their fundamental rights  for the last 66 years but the Government has failed to provide them justice.
Capt (Retd) Chib while speaking on the occasion strongly criticized the Central Government for not providing them justice in last six decades. He demanded Rs 25 lakh package per family as one time settlement. He said the nothing less than this amount is acceptable to the PoK refugees who left their everything while leaving their homes during attack of Pakistani raiders.
Prominent among others who addressed gathering included Jai Pal Sharma, R P Singh, Kulbir Singh and Kuldip Singh.
