JAMMU, May 8: Amid unprecedented patriotic fervor, Displaced persons from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) today vowed to reclaim motherland of their ancestors as Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum organized a historic mega event for paying tributes to the martyrs of PoJK, who sacrificed their lives during invasion of Pak army in the guise of tribals.

Thousands of PoJK’s Displaced persons living in Jammu and Kashmir as well as those settled in other parts of the country, took part in this ‘Punya Bhoomi Samarn Smaroh, which was organized at Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Refugees of Chhamb, who were displaced in 1965 and 1971, also participated in the event.
Speakers from the displaced community’s origin recalled great sacrifices and horrific experiences of their ancestors and stressed that the time has come for fulfilling the Parliament resolution of liberating PoJK.
Peethadheeshwar Shri Shri 1008 Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Dharmadev, Central Joint General Secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishad Dr Surendra Jain, popular film actor and producer Mukesh Rishi, Renu Bhatia- Chairperson of State Commission for Women, Haryana, Brij Bhushan Bali, Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib, Prof Kuldeep Agnihotri and others addressed the gathering.
Raising a pitch for reclaiming parts of Jammu and Kashmir under the illegal occupation of Pakistan and China, VHP National Joint General Secretary, Surinder Jain predicted that it will become a reality soon.
“Whether you want, compensation or land of your ancestors and religious places like Sharada Peeth? The pledge you have taken is shortly becoming a reality, ” he said amid chants for liberation of PoJK.
Without naming anyone, he said that role of a few families who ruled J&K in past decades was over. “Now only the writ of the country and the people of J&K will run in J&K,” he said and added that a new J&K was emerging under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who revoked the Article 370 without caring for the threats and blackmails.
Referring to the Kashmir Files movie, the VHP leader said that he would like the film director Vivek Agnihotri to make a movie on the exodus of PoJK refugees as well to educate the people of the country about the atrocities faced by them. He described PoJK Displaced persons as true ‘Dharamveer’ who could have lived peacefully after conversion but they preferred to sacrifice everything except religion.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh Central University, Prof Kuldeep Agnihotri threw light on the circumstances, which led to occupation of a part of J&K and held Sheikh Mohd Abdullah, Jawahar Lel Nehru and Lord Mountbatten responsible for the same.
“The trio intentionally allowed this area to remain under Pakistan and also discriminated with the Displaced persons from PoJK by not giving them equal rights,” he said and added that when Maharaja Hari Singh was pleading for J&K’s accession with Indian Union, Jawahar Lal Nehru was adamant for installing Sheikh Abdullah as PM before sending troops to fight Pakistani invaders.
Recalling that Baba Saheb Bhim Rao Ambedkar had predicted re-merger of Pakistan in India after 10 years of partition, Prof Agnihotri said that the time has come when Government of India should fulfill the dream of Akhand Bharat and reclaim PoJK.
Renu Bhatia, Chairperson of State Commission for Women, Haryana and daughter of a PoJK displaced family, in her address, described the agony of every PoJK displaced family who had suffered the pain of Pakistani invasion in 1947. “The tearful story of our childhood, our home and my streets narrated by my grandparents shake my heart and make my cry,” she said while recalling that husband of her father’s sister, who was married only eight days ago, was brutally stabbed to death by the invaders before her eyes.
Noted actor Mukesh Rishi, who specially arrived to attend the ‘Shradhanjli and Punyabhumi Samaran Sabha’, said that the traces of what happened to the PoJK migrants in 1947 are visible in the present generation of the Displaced person as well. “Our ancestors sacrificed their lives to see us happy and alive and we will always remember them in every moment of life,” he said.
Maintaining that the time has come when PoJK will get liberated, he predicted that the days are not far when people will listen the announcement: “Ladies and Gentleman, Jammu Se Mirpur Jaane Wali Garhi Aadhe Gante Main Chalne Wali Hai, Kripya Apni Apni Siton Par Baith Jayen ( Train from Jammu to Mirpur is about to take off in half an hour, kindly be seated”.
Mahamandaleshwar Swami Dharamdev, while speaking on the occasion, said that gone are the days when there were apprehensions on status of the Jammu Kashmir. “Today, we are talking of taking back the occupied territory of J&K from Pakistan,” he said and added that the country was safe in the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
While paying tribute to the martyrs of PoJK, he asked the gathering to take home with them the resolve to not just secure every inch of the motherland, but also to reclaim what was lost in 1947, 1965 and 1971.
Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib, said that BJP Government has done a commendable job by abrogating Article 370. “After this, I request the Government to take steps to reunite the two parts of J&K,” he added.
Mahant Manjit Singh also stressed that as many as possible Legislative Assembly seats must be reserved for the Displaced people of PoJK. He also demanded that the compensation amount to PoJK DPs should be enhanced to Rs 30 lakhs.
Atal Pthadishwar Swami Vishwatmanand Saraswati Maharaj, said that people were all set to reclaim the motherland of their ancestors once Government permits them to do so. “This occasion has given us an opportunity to bring all DPs together and take a pledge for liberation of our motherland, which is still under occupation of Pakistan,” he said and lauded Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for promoting patriotic activities.
Brij Bhushan Bali, while paying tribute to the martyrs of PoJK, threw light on the situation that arose following Pakistani invasion on Jammu and Kashmir in October 1947 and how thousands of men and women were killed while lakhs of people had to flee leaving their native land.
Earlier, Prof Rajeev Rattan presented a welcome address while Guru Gosain Brij Bhushan threw light on the hardships faced by PoJK Displaced Persons. A special documentary film made on PoJK was also screened on the occasion. Senior BJP leaders and prominent PoJK DP leaders led ‘Tiranga yatra’ from different parts of the city to join the rally.
