Displaced Wing of DPAP rejects reservation on nomination basis

JAMMU, July 28: The Kashmiri Displaced People’s Wing of DPAP in a joint statement issued under leadership of its president Sanjay Dhar and Chairman, Piaray Lal Pandita, have appealed the Union Government and Election Commission of India to announce reservation of four Assembly and three Parliamentry Seats for Kashmiri displaced people during the coming elections in J&K State, so that the elected infrastructure will represent the displaced people for getting Constitutional rights, which have been ignored during last 33 years community’s exile.
The leaders have categorically rejected the reservation of seats for the displaced people on nomination basis, as the MLCs on nomination basis during past have failed to address the sufferings of displaced people. The leaders have demanded that three seats in each district of Kashmir be reserved during coming Panchayet and Local Body elections for displaced people for introducing a bridge towards return and rehabilitation of displaced people back in Kashmir. Besides, they appealed the Union Government to introduce system of Panchayats in displaced camps, till rehabilitation policy, for ensuring mitigation of 32 year long sufferings in exile, as the percentage of funds through the system as share of displaced people has not been incurred on displaced community but in valley.
They have also appealed the Union Government to work out a comprehensive plan/policy for permanent rehabilitation back in Valley of the displaced people after taking into confidence the real stake holders of community who have tasted the sufferings of displacement due to genocide.
