Display Your Talent 2022-23 begins at JU

JAMMU, Nov 9: After a gap of two years because of Covid pandemic, annual ‘Display Your Talent 2022-23’ commenced today at the University of Jammu.
In this event students from the affiliated degree colleges and university departments will be participating in 26 different competitions viz music, dance, literary, fine-arts and theatrical activities.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Umesh Rai formally inaugurated the mega event and said that such programmes enable students to understand their inner spark which would act as guiding light in their life. He stated that such activities are not co-curricular or extra- curricular activities anymore but an important part of the curriculum itself.
The VC recommended that there should be additional marks for such activities for which the university will take initiative for the approval of the competent authorities. He also suggested reaching all the affiliated colleges through Training-Outreach-Programme in the form of Clusters so that there is larger participation in such events in future.
Prof Prakash Antahal, Dean Students Welfare, informed that this year, the University of Jammu would be hosting the prestigious North Zone Youth Festival under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities and the winners of this Display Your Talent would get an opportunity to participate in the same.
Prof Vishav Raksha, Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee apprised the audience about the brief history of ‘Display Your Talent’. Prof Sanjana Kaul, Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee presented the vote of thanks.
The event of Light Vocal Singing was conducted on the first day of Display Your Talent. Pooja Pandita and Ritika Verma, both from Institute of Music and Fine Arts secured First and Second positions, respectively. Third position was shared by Geeta Devi from GDC, Reasi and Laksh from GDC (Boys) Udhampur. Certificates of Merit were awarded to Ankush Majotra from GDC (Boys) Kathua and Khushi Namita Kichloo from the Department of Botany, JU. Upma Sharma, Monu Kumar and Dharmesh Nargotra were the adjudicators and Dr Sandeep Singh and Dr Satyapriya were the Teachers In-Charge of the event.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of DSW Prof Prakash Antahal, Prof Vishav Raksha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sanjana Kaul (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr Anil Gupta (Associate Dean SW), Dr Garima Gupta and Dr Pritam Singh (Assistant Deans, SW), Dr A R Manhas & Dr Shallu Sharma (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer).
