JAMMU, Nov 16: ‘Display Your Talent 2023’- annual feature of the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu, commenced here today.
In this event, students from the affiliated degree colleges and University Departments are participating in 27 different competitions viz Music, Dance, Literary, Fine-arts and Theatrical activities.
Prof Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor JU was the chief guest of the inaugural function and Prof Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs, was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Umesh Rai said that such programmes enable students to understand their inner spark which acts as guiding light in their life. He stated that such activities are not co-curricular or extra- curricular activities anymore but are an important part of the curriculum itself. He instructed to prepare a concrete plan so that there should be credit points for such activities. Click here to watch video
To ensure a larger participation of the students from far off places, Prof Rai suggested that the Display Your Talent should be organized in a zone-wise format.
The event of Group Song Indian was conducted on the first day of Display Your Talent. The First position was secured by the team of GCW, Udhampur. GCW Parade stood Second and the team of Institute of Music and Fine Arts secured Third position. Prof Harvinder Singh, Dr Kuldeep Raina and Sonali Dogra were the adjudicators and Dr Inderjeet Singh was the Teacher In-Charge of the event.
Prof Meena Sharma, Dean Planning; Prof Rajiv Rattan Sharma, Director CDC; Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Director DDOL and other senior functionaries of the university also attended the programme.
The events of DSW are conceived, planned and organised by the team consisting of Prof Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Dr Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr Garima Gupta (Assistant Dean, SW), Dr Shallu Sharma & Dr A R Manhas (Deputy Proctors), members of Campus Cultural Committee, Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor) and Ifra Kak (Cultural Officer).
On 17thth November, the events of Light Vocal Solo, Classical Vocal Solo & Classical Instrumental would be conducted.
