District admn Jammu honours martyrs through tree plantation

JAMMU, Aug 8: As part of the ‘Ek Ped Shaheedon Ke Naam’ campaign, senior officers from the Jammu district administration have been paying tribute to the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of India’s borders.
The officials have been planting trees in memory of these martyrs and meeting with their families to offer support and assurance.
During such an event, Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh and Block Development Officer Bhalwal, Khalil Ul Rehman planted a tree at Government Higher Secondary School Domana in remembrance of Naib Subedar, Manga Ram of the II Punjab Regiment, who laid down his life for the nation in 1947.
The officers, accompanied by the school principal and other officials, also visited the martyr’s family to pay their homage on behalf of the district administration.
A similar tribute was paid at the Government Middle School Domana, where a tree was planted in memory of Constable Tarsem Lal of the 2nd Battalion of the Indian Reserve Police, who made the supreme sacrifice while fighting anti-national elements in 1999.
The officers visited his family and honoured them for their immense sacrifice, acknowledging the deep gratitude owed to them.
