District Admn removes encroachments

KATHUA, May 28: The district administration and police today removed the illegal encroachments from Main Chowk and other places in the Kathua township invoking a protest from people running reharis and pharis.
The administration also warned action against the parking of vehicles on road side and issued instructions to people to park their vehicles in Ram Lila Ground. They also fixed Rs 5as parking charges for four wheelers and Rs 2 for two wheelers.
The DC Kathua Jitender Singh warned against the conversion of roads and bazaars into parking places. However, the students of the K V Kathua and Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua situated adjacent to Ramlila Ground have demanded that the area be converted into “no horn zone’’ otherwise the parking slot should be shifted form there.
The protesting owners of reharis and pharis alleged that the administration has deprived them of their livelihood by removing their reharis and pharis and warned agitation.
