SUCHETGARH, Oct 3: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and District Development Councillor (DDC) of Suchetgarh, Taranjit Singh Tony here today inspected the ongoing canal restoration work near village Dharap.
After inspection, he told reporters that as per the site engineers and the concerned Executive Engineer the ongoing work has been taken up on war footing and it will be completed in next 10 days.
Tony urged the concerned Executive Engineer and his team to ensure that water supply gets restored to the paddy bowl of J&K at an earliest because in absence of adequate and timely water supply to paddy fields the crop may get affected putting the farmers to losses.
He claimed that that in this small village falling in R.S Pura, the worth of cultivated paddy crop remains in several crores.
Tony also raised issues of tube wells and lift irrigation system in the area and urged the administration to make all the irrigation systems including tube wells fully functional in the area in order to ensure regular supply of water to paddy fields.
The Superintending Engineer, Vivak Kohli assured the DDC that water supply to the paddy fields will be restored within ten days.
