UDHAMPUR, Nov 6: A district-level Kala Utsav competition was held today at SIKS Govt. Higher Secondary School (Boys), Udhampur, under the supervision of CEO Udhampur, Narinder Mohan Suri. Organized by the Directorate of Samagra Shiksha as part of a Ministry of Education initiative, Kala Utsav aims to foster artistic expression among students in senior and secondary schools, offering them a unique platform to showcase their hidden talents.
The event saw participation from 96 students representing 24 schools from all 11 zones of the district, who demonstrated their skills across multiple artistic disciplines. Dy CEO Dr Kalpana Jasrotia, Principal Manoj Kumar Jad of SIKS HSS Boys Udhampur, Principal Pawan Kumar Singh of SCTM HSS (Girls) Udhampur, and other officials attended, along with teachers and students. The day began with the National Anthem and Saraswati Vandana, followed by a lamp-lighting ceremony to mark the start of the festivities.
Participants progressed through various levels—beginning at school, then cluster and zonal rounds—to reach the district-level competition. The event featured a range of categories, and the top performers in each were awarded certificates by Dr. Jasrotia and Principal Manoj Kumar Jad. Notable winners included Vedika Verma (Visual Arts) from Govt. Hr. Sec. School Sudh Mahadev, Harman Kaur (Instrumental Music) from SCTM HSS Girls Udhampur, Shilpa Sharma and Team (Dance) from HS Chhatriari, Smiley Rajput and Team (Theatre) from A.O.C HSS Udhampur, Neeta and Team (Vocal Music) from HS Chhatriari, and Priyanshi Atri (Storytelling) from DPS Udhampur.
Judges Suresh Sharma, Rakesh Kumar, and others assessed the participants, while anchors Jyoti, Rinku Khanna, and Jagdish Chander Sharma added vibrance to the program. The event was a success, and the winners will advance to the Division Level competition. Concluding the day, Dr. Jasrotia praised the students’ creativity, and CEO Suri sent a congratulatory message to the winners and organizers. The Cultural and Educational Wing of CEO Udhampur extended a heartfelt vote of thanks to all involved.
